Full Circle for Michaud and Mayberry; ACT and PASS Lease Lee USA Speedway
Barre, VT & Naples, ME — For the American-Canadian Tour’s Cris Michaud and the Pro All Stars Series’ Tom Mayberry, Lee USA Speedway has always held a special place. For Michaud, he fought 59 other cars for a starting spot in 2005’s Seacoast Late Model Challenge, later taking the lead from seven-time ACT champion Jean-Paul Cyr for the win. For Mayberry, Red and Judy McDonald believed in a new Super Late Model series back in 2001 and provided the launching pad for the Pro All Stars Series some twenty-five years ago. Now, the two have partnered once again to lease the 1/3-mile facility on the New Hampshire seacoast, ready to give back and return the famed oval to its place in Northeast racing prominence.
Both of the Northeast’s premier full-fendered organizations are no strangers to the scene. The Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour travels across New England and Quebec while owning and operating the nationally renowned Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl in Barre, Vermont and the fan-favorite White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, New Hampshire. Similarly, the Pro All Stars Series has been the premier Super Late Model touring series in the Northeast since 2001 and owns and operates the nationally recognized Oxford Plains Speedway in Maine. The two organizations have also partnered to operate the famed Thompson Speedway in Connecticut since 2020 and now come together for another new journey in 2026.
“I have always enjoyed the racing at Lee USA as a driver, spectator and official,” said ACT managing partner Cris Michaud. “Lee is easily one of the most recognized tracks in New England and I believe Tom (Mayberry) and I can build this great facility back to its pinnacle spot where it should be.”
“When Cris approached me to do this with him, I wasn’t too sure at first,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “But, the more I thought about it, and the more we talked logistics, it all just came together very seamlessly. I know this will be a worthwhile adventure for both our organizations and certainly for the teams and fans that enjoy Lee USA Speedway as much as we do.”
The partnership has crafted an exciting tentative schedule starting with a Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour and PASS Super Late Model doubleheader in April and ending with Oktoberfest weekend in October. Friday night racing is set to run from late May to early September and will be announced after receiving approval from the Town of Lee. Mayberry and Michaud also noted the likely addition of various other divisions throughout New England could be added.
Additional series set to invade the Lee oval will be the New England Supermodified Series (NESS) for several appearances, including the annual Ollie Silva Classic, the Kennebec Equipment PASS Modifieds and part of a special New Hampshire Late Model series under the ACT banner. Approximately six 350 Supermodifieds events will also be included in the schedule, all on non-conflicting dates with Star Speedway.
The pair have also laid out the weekly series divisions for Friday night action at the coastal New Hampshire oval. Lee’s track championship line-up will continue to be headed by PASS-style Super Late Models and joined by a Street Stock/Super Street-type class similar to the Street Stock open rules recently run at Oxford Plains Speedway during the PASS 400 weekend. Weekly divisions will also include the popular Mad Bomber/Slingshot/Ridge Runner-type division, Crown Vics and Six Shooters/Cruisers to round out the weekly warriors that call Lee home on Friday nights.
A full rules package is being reviewed and will be released in coming weeks, but Michaud noted he did not expect large sweeping changes. “We do not want rules to be the biggest deciding factor if a team races or not. We would rather work with those drivers and figure out what makes sense for everyone,” said Michaud.
