Sonnhalter and Bubar Collect Paydays!

Lee, NH - It has been a while since Lee USA Speedway had a race scheduled with such a beautiful forecast of sun! Teams from all over the northeast showed up in support and so did the fans as Lee USA Speedway remembered Lee Weldy with 77 laps of Super Street racing.

Also joining the evening were the Granite State Pro Stock Series, New England Dwarf Car Series, Black Flagged Podcast Ridge Runners, O’Reilly Auto Parts Six Shooters, and MLM Diagnostic Open Pure Stocks. We would like to thank all of the Legion riders who came out and took a few laps in remembrance of Lee Weldy too!

MLM Diagnostic Open Pure Stocks led the evenings action. Despite only having a 5 car field these drivers came out to put on a show and that they did. In the end it was Shane Weber in the 7x that would collect the win followed by Cody Hodge in car #72 and in third was Sean Nadeau in car #35.

O’Reilly Auto Parts Six Shooters came out next and continued to set a high bar for the racing action as former Super Street competitor Milton Duran was filling in for Steve Millar Jr. and drove the wheels off the 79x machine to collect the win. Michael Yeaton in the 25NH tried everything he could to catch Duran but ran out of time settling for the 2nd spot. Erin Aiken in the 33A battled Yeaton all the way to the checkered and came up ever so short of the 2nd spot thus finishing 3rd. Paul Childs in the 24 was 4th and Trystin Bodwell in the 17x rounded out the top 5.

Black Flagged Podcast Ridge Runners continue to be a division to watch at New Hampshires Center for Speed. As fans wonder how you can fit so much action into 20 laps of racing with 15 cars! Dwight Souther Jr. piloted his #23 from the 8th starting spot to the lead on lap 15 and even survived a late race restart to capture the win. Followed by the #1 of Derek McKeen in 2nd and the 99NH of Carl Gagnon in 3rd. Gage Osborne in the 55 would finish 4th In a battle that saw contact and a spin across the line. Ricky Marrocco in the 7 machine rounded out the top 5.

Super Streets took to the track for the Lee Weldy Memorial 77. The race would be slowed for a blown rear end covering half the tracks racing groove just before lap 40. Robby Bodwell in the 42 was the class of the field leading all 66 of the 77 laps to take the checkered flag. Geoff Rollins in the 02 continued his front running ways as he moved into the 2nd spot on lap 41 from his 6th place starting spot and even lead a couple of laps but would have to settle for 2nd. Matt Sonnhalter in the 33VT also continues what has been becoming a great first half of the season as he never ran outside of the top 3 all evening on his way to a third place finish. Austin Erickson in the 22 led the first 9 laps but eventually settled into the 4th spot and that’s where he finished. The 30 of Andrew Morin finished 5th. In post race tech the 42 of Bodwell and the 02 of Rollins were dq’ed for clutch and flywheels being under weight.

New England Dwarf Car Series came to town 20 cars strong to put on a show for the fans and show they did put on! With a 16 car invert after qualifying Tom Harwood in the 29 would start 16th and by lap 16 he was in the lead showing the fans why they call him Top Gun. A caution on lap 17 would change the dynamics as the 26 of Eric Bacon and the 31 of Cody Hodgdon would get together while battling for 2nd ending the day for Hodgdon and sending Bacon to the rear of the field. Harwood would hold off Andrew Harmon in car #14 over two restarts as Harwood collected his 6th win in 8 races. Harmon held on for 2nd and Zig Geno in the 57 ran a strong race to finish 3rd! Ryan Carman in the 08 continues his run of top 5 finishes as he came home in 4th and Bacon rebounded to finish 5th. For full results check out nedwarfcarseries.com!

Granite State Pro Stock Series Rolled onto the track 24 cars deep for 125 laps to close out the evening! The action was packed with side by side racing and one race did their best Tony Hawk impersonation riding the backstretch wall. Thankfully that car landed on all four tires and everyone was safe. Brandon Barker in the 32B led the first 9 laps before being shuffled back. Joey Polewarczyk in the 97 took the lead until lap 15 when Corey Bubar in the 12x wrestled it away. Bubar would hold off all challengers on his way to take the win. Barker after falling back to 4th for most of the race made a pass on lap 103 to take 2nd spot and that’s were he would finish. Polewarczyk was able to run in the top 3 all day and held on to finish 3rd. Dave Farrington in #23 finished 4th and Wayne Helliwell Jr. in the 27NH came home 5th. General Manager John Esburnett and Track Owner Ben Bosowski would like you to extend their appreciation for all the fans and teams in attendance. If you were unable to attend or you attended but want to see the action again you can go to RacedayTV.com and purchase the replay of the event!

Lee USA Speedway is back in action on Sunday August 11th for Retro Race Day as we see the return on the Modified Racing Series along with Super Streets, Black Flagged Podcast Ridge Runners, O’Reilly Auto Parts Six Shooters, and MLM Diagnostic Open Pure Stocks.
