Friday Night Lights; Kuhn Claims Victory Over Renfrew in Seacoast Late Model Challenge
Lee, NH — When the dust settled and the checkered flag unfurled at Lee USA Speedway Friday night, Southern New Hampshire race fans were on the edge of their seats. It was Round #2 in the Seacoast Late Model Challenge Series with Ryan Kuhn taking the early lead in the Reinbold Insurance #63MA. Kuhn earned the pole position in plus/minus handicap qualifying and quickly launched away with the early lead. All things remained settled until lap 66 caution for Colby Meserve’s turn one spin to re-rack the field. Now alongside Jimmy Renfrew, Jr., the two ran side-by-side until turn three with Renfrew jumping to the bottom and rooting Kuhn up the track to steal the lead. The lap 77 restart following young Ayla Martin’s spin on the backstretch brought with it a final twist. Kuhn returned the favor in turn one on lap 83 to regain the lead by inches at the line as the two ran side-by-side with Geoff Rollins laying in wait behind them. Under the Friday Night Lights Ryan Kuhn would nail down the win seventeen laps later with Geoff Rollins edging Renfrew at the line for second overall. The Ridge Runners began Friday’s showcase with Carl Gagnon taking the early lead followed closely by Derek McKeen and Trystin Bodwell around the Lee 3/8-mile. At the halfway point Tyler Fish jumped under the Bodwell machine with point leader Kyle Dumas and most recent winner Josh Hodgdon in tow. Dumas and Fish would make contact three laps later sending both to the back and resetting the field. With seven laps remaining and Hodgdon fighting hard on the outside groove, Carl Gagnon became the fourth different Ridge Runner winner in as many events this season with Hodgdon nearly sideways at the line for second and McKeen coming home third. The MLM Diagnostic Services Crown Vics went caution free in their twenty lap main event Friday with polesitter Josh ‘Guido’ Valliere getting the launch under the green flag. Guido would face plenty of pressure from Matt Hurteau all over his rear bumper through the second half of the event but never bobbled to take down his popular first win of the season. Hurteau would come home second followed across the line by Millville, Massachusetts driver Ty Mello. The Tri-City Lining Street Stocks rounded out the Friday program at Lee USA Speedway with Dave Cameron and Mike Williams bringing the field to green. Point leader Jason Curtis would force a three-wide move in turn two early and stole the lead while Connor McDougal tried to follow but nearly lost it all in turn three. The melee scattered the field, allowing Jimmy Renfrew, Jr. to launch into second and drove around Curtis to lead lap 8. While McDougal drove back to keep him honest, Renfrew would take the 25-lap main event with Curtis holding on to round out the podium in third. While off next week, New Hampshire’s Center of Speed is back in action on Friday, July 17 with a four-division showdown headlined by the return of the 350 Supermodified Series! ACT Seacoast Challenge 100 Headlines Friday, July 3 Showcase at Lee USA Speedway
Lee, NH — After an early summer break, New Hampshire’s Center for Speed is ready to return as part of the 250th Independence Day holiday weekend on Friday, July 3. Lee USA Speedway is headlined Friday by the second round in the Seacoast Challenge for ACT Late Models with 100 laps on the board alongside the Tri-City Lining Street Stocks, Ridge Runners and MLM Diagnostic Services Crown Vics with a 7:00pm Post Time. The Seacoast Late Model Challenge Series makes its first of two stops at Lee USA Speedway after getting the season started at Star Speedway back on June 13. Jimmy Renfrew Jr. ran away with June’s caution-free 100 lap feature over Bay Stater Chase Curtis and Rhode Island’s Connor Souza while this Friday presents a new challenge! Just 8 miles from one another, Star Speedway and Lee USA couldn’t be any more different with teams preparing to switch between the tight quarter-mile Star bullring to the long straightaway, progressively banked Lee USA 3/8-mile. Among the early entrants include Derry’s Erick Sands ready to return home to Lee USA Speedway along with Holdyn Sullivan behind the wheel of the Eppin’ Express #0NH, Challenge Series point leader Jimmy Renfrew Jr., Freemont’s Nathan Leclair as well as Ryan Kuhn and Ayla Martin hauling up from Massachusetts. Lee USA Speedway Off Friday, June 19, Back with ACT Late Model 100 on July 3
Lee, NH — After discussions between Officials all week, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) and American-Canadian Tour (ACT) have made the difficult decision to cancel the planned Friday, June 19 Schedule of Events. With both sanctioning bodies hosting doubleheader weekends on June 20 and 21 due to previously rescheduled rain-outs, the decision has been made to cancel Friday’s events. After careful consideration, using experience gained at their shared venture in Thompson Speedway, both ACT and PASS Officials have opted to pare down the remaining Lee USA Speedway schedule to maintain a better balance for teams and spectators. The upcoming season is filled with big events taking the main stage while putting the weekly warriors of Lee USA Speedway in a larger spotlight as the season goes on. Officials are hard at work planning the return to Friday Night Racing on Friday, July 3 during the busy Independence Day Holiday stretch, headlined by the ACT Late Model 100. The second round in the Seacoast Challenge Series, this 100-lap showdown is sure to pit the best of the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour against all comers at New Hampshire’s Center of Speed. McKennedy Plays Cat-and-Mouse on Meservey for MRS Seacoast 75 Victory Lee, NH — The pilots of the Modified Racing Series invaded Lee USA Speedway for the Seacoast 75 on Friday night with Jon McKennedy on the pole position. The Chelmsford, Massachusetts Modified master put the power down from the drop of the green flag as defending series champion Brett Meservey gave chase. McKennedy, with thousands of laps logged at the 3/8-mile oval, played cat and mouse with Meservey to the very end of the caution free event to steal away the victory with Joey Jarvis taking home third behind Meservey. The Ridge Runners once again proved to be the action of the evening with third-place starter Josh Hodgdon taking advantage of Carl Gagnon’s back-slide from the outside pole. Hodgdon made it to the lead by lap five while behind him 2nd through 5th ran nose-to-tail around the inside groove of Lee USA Speedway. Tyler Fish led Derek McKeen, Kyle Dumas and sub-driver Jimmy Renfrew Jr. in a freight train until Dumas and Renfrew made moves to the front. In the end, Josh Hodgdon took down his first win of the season over Fish and Dumas at the line. The MLM Diagnostic Services Crown Vics also put on a heck of a show Friday night with six new drivers joining the fray. Josh ‘Guido’ Valliere brought the field to green and led on until lap four when Farmington, Maine long-hauler Derek Guptil took over the top spot. From then on Guptil watched a rear-view mirror full of Matthew Hurteau as the two ran tight for the win. Even after a last lap move, Derek Guptil stole the show ahead of Hurteau with Traver Michaud holding on for third. The Tri-City Lining Street Stocks chased Jimmy Renfrew Jr. from lap five on in their 25-lap main event with Renfrew pulling the win in triple-duty competition Friday night ahead of Jason Curtis and Oxford Plains invader Wade Gelinas. Lee, NH — For the first and only time in 2026, New Hampshire’s Center of Speed will roar with the Mighty Modifieds of the Modified Racing Series in the Seacoast 75 on Friday, June 12! The Seacoast 75 will be the 45th event for MRS at Lee USA Speedway and stands to kick-off their championship season. Defending champion Brett Meservey leads the Modified Racing Series into Lee USA Speedway for this Friday’s Seacoast 75 but will face plenty of competition at the 3/8-mile. A pair of former New Hampshire NASCAR State Champions in Nate Wenzel and Tyler Leary will make the trip along with last Saturday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour winner Jon McKennedy. A pair of driver swaps will see longtime Super Late Model standout Joey Doiron will be behind the wheel of the KDW #66 and Brian Robie will pilot the Bobby Webber Racing #19. Stew McCormack is bringing his beautifully prepared #04NH while Ryan Doucette, Matt Lashua, Adam LaPoint, Jeremy Zullo, TJ Bleau, Kurt Vigeant and veteran Joey Jarvis are also on the early entry list. Friday Night Notes: Bodwell, Curtis, Robie and Renfrew Take Checkers Lee, NH — Trystin Bodwell launched off with the lead in the Ridge Runner feature showdown as calamity struck in the back half of the field to collect Carl Gagnon and Brad Weismann on lap one. Back under green it was not-so-brotherly love for Josh Hodgdon and Tyler Fish with the two brothers going fisticuffs on track resulting in a blown right front for Hodgdon. Meanwhile up front, Bodwell showed the way as Kam Weir and opening Friday winner Kyle Dumas made their way under a loose Fish. Time ran out for Weir with Trystin Bodwell taking the 20-lap feature and Dumas rounding out the top three. Donnie Belisle and Jason Curtis brought the Tri-City Lining Street Stocks to bare for their 25-lap main event. Curtis led the field as Mike Williams and Oxford Plains invader Joey Israelson joined the mix for a tough top-three fight. One caution at the halfway point for a stalled Blaine Porman re-racked the field for a last ditch effort at the crown. Jason Curtis kept up what he was doing best to steal the win while Joey Israelson slid in under Mike Williams to steal second at the line. Windham, Maine’s Cole Robie ran away with the lead early into the fifty-lap Super Late Model feature. Try all he could, multi-time Lee USA Speedway champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr. had to settle for second behind the Maine youngster with Deerfield’s Dan Winter rounding out the top three. Friday Night Showdown Set for June 5 at Lee USA Speedway Lee, NH — After late-spring rains ended last week’s planned event, officials with the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) are ready to return to Lee USA Speedway for a Friday Night Showdown! The Super Late Models, Tri-City Lining Street Stocks, Ridge Runners and MLM Diagnostic Services Crown Vics all return this Friday, June 5. Sylas Ripley claimed the Friday night opener two weeks ago with the young racer standing atop the Super Late Model standings. Jimmy Renfrew Jr. and Corey Bubar will be among those looking for some redemption in this week’s 50-lap main event. Redemption is also the word on Connor McDougal’s mind. The Somersworth racer was wiped out coming to the green flag on the Friday Night Opener two weeks ago and took Sunday’s feature win over at Hudson Speedway. With things back in place under the hood, Jimmy Renfrew Jr., Jason Curtis and David Cameron are on notice for this Friday’s 25-lapper. The always popular Ridge Runners and MLM Diagnostic Crown Vics are also back in action on Friday, June 6. Sophomore driver Kyle Dumas of Raymond will be looking to take back-to-back wins at New Hampshire’s Center of Speed with Derek McKeen, Tyler Fish, Kam Weir and Josh Hodgdon looking to crack into the winner’s spot this time around. Everyone was chasing Thomas Harton in the MLM Crown Vics two weeks ago and with rumblings of more visitors to the track this week, it’s anyone’s game! Forecasted Rain Washes Out May 29 Event at Lee USA Speedway Lee, NH — With weather forecasters calling for increased percentages of rain throughout the seacoast area Friday evening, Officials with the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) and the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) have cancelled the planned events for Friday, May 29. Unfortunately, due to prior commitments next week, the Senior Tour Auto Racers (STAR) will not be able to return on June 5, but officials are looking at options for a later appearance this summer. “After watching the forecast get worse and worse all week, coupled with our regulated time constraints, we had to cancel the program,” said ACT managing partner Cris Michaud. “We look forward to getting back in the swing of things next Friday.” New Hampshire’s Center of Speed will be back in action next Friday, June 5 with a full card of racing to include the Super Late Models, Tri-City Lining Street Stocks, Ridge Runners and the MLM Diagnostics Crown Vics with a 7:00pm Start Time. STAR Tour Brings Yesteryear to Lee USA Speedway this Friday, May 29 Lee, NH — With the season off and rolling at Lee USA Speedway, a look back at yesteryear comes around the corner this Friday with the Senior Tour Auto Racers (STAR) Sportsman and Modified divisions. These antique racers pull back the nostalgic curtain at New Hampshire’s Center of Speed this Friday along with continued track championship action for the Super Late Models, Tri-City Lining Street Stocks, Ridge Runners and MLM Diagnostic Crown Vics. The Massachusetts-based STAR Tour has been in action since 1999 helping to keep motor racing history alive and well in New England. This Friday is their season opener after supporting the yearly car show at the New England Racing Museum in Loudon earlier this month and the whole roster is itching to get back on track after a long winter’s sleep. Less than a week ago, Sylas Ripley pounced on a late-race restart to take the $2,000 grand prize and lead the point standings at New Hampshire’s Center of Speed. Corey Bubar will be among those looking to put everything together for his first win of the season this Friday along with Joey Doiron, Jimmy Renfrew Jr. and more for a fast-50 lap showdown. Sylas Ripley Powers By Dominant Corey Bubar for Super Late Model 100 at Lee Speedway Lee, NH — The Lee USA Speedway weekly track championship series kicked off on Friday night with a five division showdown. Starting the evening were the Tri-City Lining Street Stocks for their season debut. A three-way wreck at the start/finish line ended the night early for Connor McDougal while Austin Erickson and Dave Cameron piled in for a rough opening lap. Back under green, Jimmy Renfrew Jr. ran away with the opening day win over Jason Curtis and Erickson who made it back up to third in the end. The 350 Supermodifieds returned for the first of several planned visits this summer with a 40-lap main event. Ben Tinker showed the way throughout the first 25 laps but had one car on his tail the whole time. On lap 26 the #10 of Ben Seitz finally made his way around Tinker’s #19 and never looked back to take the win with Justin Harris following Tinker across the line for third. The popular Ridge Runners were next on the track with Kyle Dumas taking the early lead and never looking back in the flag-to-flag, caution-free event. The sophomore, second-generation Lee USA Speedway racer took down his first career win in the Ridge Runners while Derek McKeen kept it lean and green all race long to hold onto second and Tyler Fish rounded out the podium. The Super Late Models took on one hundred laps at New Hampshire’s Center of Speed with Eddie MacDonald leading from the drop of the green flag. After working the outside groove single handedly, longtime racer Corey Bubar finally made it stick all the way to lead lap 25 while Travis Stearns made his way under Joey Doiron for fourth. As the field dove into lap traffic, Bubar’s lead expanded while MacDonald and young-gun Sylas Ripley fought in close quarters for second. While entering that runner-up battle, Stearns lost control to bring the lone caution out on lap 72. Back under green, Sylas Ripley fired from a cannon on the outside groove to steal the lead and never looked back to take the $2,000 win over Bubar and Joey Doiron. The Crown Vics rounded out Friday’s Weekly Series Opener with Thomas Harton blistering the field, Adam Lovejoy coming home second and Ty Mello rounding out the final podium of the evening. Gabe Brown Back on Top in Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour with New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 Win Lee, NH — Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour heat winners Kaiden Fisher and Gabe Brown earned the front row of the New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 by each earning a +5 in qualifying action. After suffering with ignition issues all of Friday practice, Fisher made his presence known by leading the early circuits before Jimmy Renfrew Jr. got around him on the lap 7 restart. Renfrew kept pace ahead of the pack while the 32-car field spread out, easing the pressure on their Hoosier Racing Tires against the rough, aged surface of Lee USA Speedway. A rough outing for rookie Holdyn Sullivan took a turn for the worse, spinning off of turn two and hard into the outside wall. Back under green, former Quebec champion Jonathan Bouvrette made a strong run to the front along with Gabe Brown as Brown took over the lead. With 50 laps remaining, Bouvrette continued to gain on lap times but lap traffic worked in Brown’s favor. A series of late-race yellows did nothing to slow down Gabe Brown as he took down the return of the New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway Saturday afternoon. Defending Governor’s Cup victor Brandon Barker kept his nose clean to take second with Renfrew holding on for third in the victory lane podium. Jake ‘The Jet’ Johnson made it two top-five finishes in a row with the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour with Geoff Rollins taking fifth. Fisher and Bouvrette held on for sixth and seventh, respectively, followed across the line by Alexendre Tardif, Bryan Mason and Jesse Switser rounding out the top-ten. Brandon Barker quickly found his way to the front of the PASS Super Late Model Strafford County 150 but it was far from a runaway with Gabe Brown, Joey Doiron and Derek Griffith stalking close behind. With the first 45 laps down, Doiron turned up the wick inside the Petit Motorsports #73D just as the left-rear went flat underneath Wayne Helliwell Jr.’s orange machine. Back under green it was the same song and dance out front with Barker pacing the field in the Corvette Parts machine with tire strategy in full effect until the caution flag flew once again for the stopped Jimmy Renfrew Jr. on lap 66. Another green flag run would continue to run until lap 100 as second-place chaser Joey Doiron also lost his left-rear shoe in turn four. No-one could stand in the way of Brandon Barker who drove the race of his career to take his first PASS Super Late Model victory over Gabe Brown and Cole Robie at the line. After Bill Penfold led the majority of the PASS Modified feature action, a collection of mid-race mishaps re-racked the field again and again with a mixed bag of comers and goers. While fellow veteran Spencer Morse worked his way to the front, so did young rising star Reed Reno to take the point. Reno would take down just his second career PASS Modified victory with Morse and Jacoby Maines rounding out the podium. The NELCAR Legends started off their season at Lee USA Speedway with Jake Kelley launching off with the lead and took the caution-free 25-lap season opener to kick their season off. David Stone III kept it interesting for his second-place finish over Chase MacKay in third.
